🚲 Le Tour de France Femmes is Coming!

It is officially confirmed: The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will finish a stage in Sheffield in July 2027.

The race will pass through the iconic climbs of the Peak District before a dramatic finish in the city on Saturday, 31 July 2027. This is a massive win for the region, promising to bring thousands of visitors and the world’s best cyclists to our doorstep.

City leaders say the event will leave a legacy focused on health and wellbeing, with thousands of volunteer spots up for grabs.

🍔 Closures: TGI Fridays and Jollibee

The high street has taken a hit this week with two major closures:

  • TGI Fridays: The American-style chain has closed its Sheffield branch (and Doncaster) as part of a UK-wide shake-up of 16 locations.
  • Jollibee (Meadowhall): The fried chicken chain in the Oasis Dining Quarter has shut down, with signage removed and the location wiped from their website.

🚋 Transport: Trams to Stocksbridge?

Sheffield City Council is optimistic about expanding the Supertram network following a new government rail announcement. The proposed “dream list” of extensions includes:

  • Chesterfield (via Barrow Hill)
  • The Hallamshire Hospital

It’s early stages, but a positive sign for better connectivity.
